ETIAS
Starting in 2026 (date to be confirmed), citizens of the U.S. and other previously visa-exempt countries may be required to apply for ETIAS travel authorization before visiting Italy. ETIAS is not yet available, and the application process has not yet opened. For the latest updates and official information, please visit ETIAS Italy. For all our esteemed guests joining us from afar to celebrate our wedding in Italy, we have arranged accommodations at a hotel in Pompeii. This convenient location will not only allow you to explore the beauty of the region, but also ensure you are close to our wedding ceremony venue, the church in Torre del Greco.

AIRPORT
AIRPORTS
The nearest airport to Pompeii is Napoli Capodichino (Naples International Airport), offering a wide range of domestic and international connections. Alternatively, guests may also consider arriving at Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport, which provides convenient access to the Amalfi Coast, or Rome’s airports—Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) and Ciampino—which are well connected to Naples and southern Italy.
From Rome to Naples
Traveling from Rome to Naples is both fast and comfortable. High-speed trains (Frecciarossa, Italo) depart frequently from Roma Termini station, reaching Napoli Centrale in approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. Tickets can be purchased online or at the station. Alternatively, direct buses and private transfer services are available from both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports to Naples, with journey times ranging from 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic and service.
GETTING TO POMPEI
From Naples to Pompei
Taxi: On the spot or pre-booked
- Travel Time: Approximately 30–40 minutes
- Cost: €60–€80 (one way, depending on traffic and exact location)
- Info: You can call +39 0818888 to request a taxi anywhere in Naples. Taxis are available at the airport, central train station, and major hotels.
- Tip: Always confirm the price before departing or ask for the meter to be used.
Car: Rental Services
- Travel Time: Around 30–40 minutes
- Cost: Prices vary. A 5-day rental for a small car with Hertz or similar is approximately €350–€400.
- Info: Rental agencies are located near Naples Airport and central station, with shuttle buses to the collection points.
Parking in Pompei is available near the archaeological site and city center, but fees apply (usually €2–€3 per hour).
- Note: Having a car gives you flexibility to explore the surrounding area, but parking can be busy during peak tourist times.
Train: Napoli Centrale to Pompei
- Travel Time: Approximately 35–40 minutes
- Cost: €3–€5 per person (one way)
- Info:
- Take the Circumvesuviana train (Napoli–Sorrento line) from Napoli Centrale (Piazza Garibaldi) to Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri station (main entrance for the archaeological site).
- Trains run every 20–30 minutes from early morning until late evening.
- Tickets can be purchased at the station ticket office or from vending machines.

Shuttle Bus: From Naples Airport to Pompei
- Travel Time: Direct shuttle buses are limited, but you can take the Alibus from Naples Airport to Napoli Centrale (about 15 minutes, €5), then transfer to the Circumvesuviana train to Pompei.
- Cost: €5 (Alibus) + €3–€5 (train)
- Info: Alibus tickets can be bought onboard, via ticket machine, or online.
Once at Napoli Centrale, follow the signs for Circumvesuviana trains.
GETTING TO SORRENTO
From Naples to Sorrento

Car: Rental Services
Travel Time: 1 hour
Cost: Prices vary. 5-day hire for a small car with Hertz is approximately €400.
Info: There are many rental companies based close to the airport with a shuttle bus to take you to the collection kiosk. Kindly note that parking is particularly difficult and costly in Sorrento. Verify if your hotels have parking if needed.
This will give you the freedom to drive along the beautiful Amalfi Coastline.
Train: Napoli Centrale to Sorrento (Circumvesuviana)
Travel Time: is approximately 1hr 30min.
Cost: €5- €10
Info: This is the local train that connects all the cities between Naples and Sorrento. The train runs from 6:11am until 9:49pm, every 30 minutes. The ticket can be bought at the station’s ticket office on-site.

Shuttle Bus: From Naples Airport to Naples Central Station (Alibus)

Info: Tickets can be bought on board the bus from the bus driver or by using ticketing machine or online here. It arrives at the central station in Piazza Garibaldi where you can take the “Vesuviana” train, which is direct to Sorrento (last stop is Sorrento City Centre).
Get off at the first stop – Piazza Garibaldi for the train station.

Then click on “aggiungi al carrello.” In the new pop-up, click on “continua.” Enter your personal data and click on “continua.” Finally, click on “Vai al pagamento” and proceed with your preferred payment method.
Ferry: Naples to Sorrento
Travel Time: Approximately 40–50 minutes
Cost: €15–€20 per person (one way)
Info: Ferries depart from Molo Beverello or Calata Porta di Massa in Naples and arrive at Marina Piccola in Sorrento.
Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the port ticket office on the day of departure.
Schedules vary by season, but ferries generally run from morning until late afternoon, with departures every 1–2 hours.
Upon arrival in Sorrento, taxis, shuttles, or a short uphill walk will take you from the port to the city center or your accommodation.
Luggage is allowed, but check with your ferry operator for any restrictions or extra fees for oversized bags.
